Last year, I was fortunate to be able to create art for a couple in the Arden Park neighborhood in Sacramento.  They've put lots of time and effort into making their yard and patio a true haven.  I was honored when they asked me to create custom art for this haven. :-)

I created art to go with the brown and blue tones in the patio just outside the kitchen.  A beautiful fountain sits to one side, with a small 'creek' running through the patio, opening up to a full cascading 'infinity' fountain with a reservoir below.

The first piece I created was a hanging piece made from scrap remnant steel.  The two pieces were slightly rusted with beautiful patterns.  The weld patterns mimic those rust patterns and give a very organic feel.  These are highlighted in blue-green to give the look/feel of water.

The next piece was another wall piece using an old 24" tractor plow disc.  This piece is heavy ... over 20 pounds!!  I used colors and patterns to contrast with the brown walls.

Now, for the main attraction ... a sculpture that sits in the fountain resevoir.  I decided to make multiple 'mini-sculptures' so the sculpture could be moved easily for any fountain maintenance.  I created "reflections at play" out of old wagon wheel rims, remnant circles, and spheres, with a 12" steel sphere at the center.  My inspiration for this sculpture and its patterns was light reflecting off glass and water.  I have to say, I do think the end result is quite playful!

Kristen Hoard and I had a great show at the Blue Wing Gallery in Woodland in February.  I was a little sad to see it come down today.  Hopefully, we'll be able to show it in other venues ... like High Hand Gallery in Loomis, and upstairs at 2110 Gallery in Sacramento.  I'll keep you posted.
